Rick Mock of Rick Mock Creative, A Columbus Ohio graphic design firm, has just completed a fantastic piece of Digital illustration art showing the Sinking of the SS Central America in 1857. The image shows the ship in its last hours during a hurricane and severe thunderstorm. The ship went down in 1857 while transporting 400 plus passengers and government gold from the gold fields in San Francisco to New York City. In 1988-91 a Columbus Ohio engineer, Tommy Thompson from Ohio State University along with his partner Bob Evans, a geologist from OSU formed a company and built a robotic deep sea vehicle and found the ship after 130 years buried below in one and a half miles of deep ocean about 150 miles off the coast of Charleston South Carolina.
